Hiking the Sugarloaf
The hike to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain consists of a steep trail, basically easy rocks and a vertical climbing step. Along the trail, we’ll make stops at beautiful viewpoints and enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
Although the trail is considered moderate, no previous climbing experience is necessary, as our guides will give you all the necessary instructions, always aiming at the safety of the participants. When we get to the vertical part, we will use the safety equipment (harness – rope – among others) necessary for a safe experience, in addition to giving some climbing tips.
After reaching the top (two to three hours on average) we will enjoy the beautiful view and take the carioca cable car to Morro da Urca where we will make a short and easy trail back to the beginning of the tour.

FAQ
Dress comfortably and keep in mind that shorts are more comfortable for our temperatures and on the other hand pants can protect you from possible scratches and insects during the trail. For your feet, choose closed shoes with good traction on the rock
You don’t need to have had a climbing experience before, this hike is an excellent introduction to rock climbing and your guide will help you with everything you need during the process
Children aged 10 and over can join the tour. We don’t recommend children under 9 years old as they are generally not big enough to reach one or two points on the climbing part.
No, you don’t need to be in impeccable shape, just in shape as we will take breaks according to each participant’s fitness level.
When we reach the top depends on a number of factors: speed of ascent, how many people are in the group, and how long each stop will last. If you are taking the tour in the afternoon and want to stay on the summit until sunset, let our guide know, he will be waiting for you.
First we go down by cable car to the Morro da Urca station (no additional cost) and then we make a small trail back to the starting point.
